Timothy Muffitt, Music Director, Music School Festival Orchestra
The Music School Festival Orchestra is underwritten by the Hultquist Foundation of Jamestown, NY
The MSFO is a major component of the curriculum and attracts musicians from leading music programs across the United States and around the world. Timothy Muffitt, music director and conductor of the Baton Rouge Symphony and the Lansing Symphony, is the principal conductor for the five-concert series by the MSFO. The orchestra rehearses daily for the majority of the seven weeks and performs its concerts in Chautauqua’s 5,000-seat Amphitheater.
In 2010, the concerts are scheduled for July 5, July 12, July 19 (with the Chautauqua Voice Department), July 26 (with the Chautauqua Festival Dancers) and August 16. Visit this Web site after March 15 for the orchestral repertoire.
"At Chautauqua, one has the opportunity to experience the full jubilant exhilaration of performing music in an environment where ideas freely live, evolve, and nurture one another."
